Learn guitar the way my students do, using a string-by-string method that get's you playing music from day one.
Meet Alan...
"When you start to learn to play the Guitar at the age of 73 the most important quality required of your teacher is PATIENCE, which Aaron has in abundance. Of course, Aaron is extremely professional in his approach... My 8 months learning experience with him has been a pleasure and I can actually anticipate achieving my goal within a couple of months - which is to play a tune or two with my son (another skilled guitarist)."
Does This Sound Like You?
You really want to be able to play guitar but don't see a clear way to get started.
You have plenty of free time and wish you could just play something, anything.
You feel like playing guitar is just a pipe dream that will never come true ☹️
OR
You've tried to play guitar but you're frustrated by a lack of progress.
Your chords buzz a lot and you just can't seem to get your fingers to do what you want them to.
You tell yourself that guitar simply isn't for you.
Sometimes you want to give up.
Now Imagine This...
You pick up your guitar and take a seat, after a quick tune up you put on a backing track and play a beautiful single string melody perfectly in time and what's more, it felt easy 😎
A friend walks in the room and says: 'wow, that's a nice piece of music!'
You feel encouraged to keep going because for once, you're actually playing music that isn't overly difficult and doesn't cause you immense frustration.
You can see a clear way forward.
Wouldn't it be so much better if you could actually play?
Well, I want to help you achieve that goal.
But first, let me share with you some of the immense benefits that learning guitar adds to your life...
Five Benefits to Learning Guitar

Cognitive Stimulation:
Learning guitar involves memory, concentration, and problem-solving. It can help improve cognitive function, memory, and mental agility, which is particularly important for people looking to keep their minds sharp.

Stress Reduction:
Playing the guitar can be a relaxing and stress-relieving activity. The simple act of strumming or picking can be a soothing way to unwind and reduce stress and anxiety, promoting overall mental well-being.

Social Interaction:
Guitar playing naturally opens doors to social connection. Many students enjoy playing music for friends or family, sharing their progress, and reconnecting with their old musical passions.

Improved Dexterity: Guitar playing requires fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Older adults can benefit from improved finger strength and dexterity which can have positive effects on everyday activities and hand health.

Creative Outlet: Playing the guitar is a creative outlet that allows people to express themselves through music. Writing songs or arranging music can be a fulfilling way to channel creativity and connect with their artistic side.
There are loads of exciting reasons to learn guitar — and if you’re like most beginners, you probably have a few questions. Here are some of the ones I'm asked most often…
Am I Too Old to Play Guitar?
Don't I Need Natural Talent to Play Well?
Are My Hands Too Small (or Too Big)?
Won't it Take Years Before I Can Play Anything?
My Previous Teacher Was a Brute!
Meet Sally
"I have been learning guitar with Aaron for around 3 or 4 months and it has been a really good experience so far. From not knowing very much at the beginning, I have been able to progress to the point where I am able to play basic songs, through the use of exercises such as chord changes, strumming patterns and melody work in our lessons."
The Truth Is This...
With the right approach, learning the guitar is a lot easier than you think.
You need to start with the absolute basics, so nothing is assumed and you're left with minimal or no knowledge gaps.
After covering all of the essentials, you can begin playing real music, using a clear, string-by-string method that breaks things down into manageable steps—making the process feel simple, not overwhelming.
What if you had something to take away the guesswork and give you the structure you need to actually stick with it—and most importantly of all, enjoy the journey? 🤓
Well...
...That's Why I Created
The Beginner Guitar Survival Course!

16 years of teaching guitar students has revealed some pretty common pitfalls that you definitely want to avoid. Primarily, and perhaps easily overlooked, you want to feel & stay motivated.
When you're actually able to play something and understand what you're doing, excitement kicks in and you naturally want to carry on and learn more.
Sometimes it's just a matter of getting the ball rolling with those all important first steps. And don't get me wrong, we're not trying to be the next Jimi Hendrix here (at least not yet anyway!), I know that isn't every guitar player's goal.
What we are trying to do is fill our time with something enjoyable, valuable and meaningful whilst keeping our minds sharp, fingers flexible and creativity alive.

So Why Me?
Hi, my name's Aaron Carrington...
... and I started playing the guitar when I was 14 years old (nearly 25 years ago!) and wow has it been a journey!
Carrington Guitar Academy began because I wanted to pass on the joy of guitar playing to as many people as possible and I firmly believe that the more people play guitar, the better the world is.
Since graduating with a BMus (Hons) from The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London in 2014, I’ve been fortunate enough to work for high profile clients such as the Princes Trust, the BBC and the Royal Air Force.
I’ve also been a long standing part of the UK wedding and corporate scene as a singer/guitarist and traveled internationally to Dubai and Bahrain to play six nights per week in residency bands with some of the music industry’s finest players.
With me, you're getting expert, high-quality guidance from an experienced guitar teacher and qualified musician.
I've spent years helping students overcome common hurdles in their playing, and I know first-hand how small changes can lead to big breakthroughs. There are countless ways to make your practice more efficient and rewarding — and I'm here to show you what actually works...
